So! You’re Interested in Savannah Burger…I must say, you have good taste!

First off, I’m a recent graduate with degrees in Art Studio and English Double-Major at UC Davis. What that means is I can write a mean essay or short story and then attach a painting to go with it. I love the outdoors, the redwoods and coastal bluffs of California, and the critters that live alongside us. If you couldn’t tell, I was born and raised in California; I currently operate in the Bay Area, one of the raddest places in the world.

I love all things comedy (I was the captain of a college improv group, of course), and pretty much all forms of heartfelt human expression. Some of my favorite movies? Xanadu, the Birdcage, and Porco Rosso, just to name a few!

In 2026, it feels like being an artist is a manifestation of a fool’s dream, hopelessly holding onto a false inclination that the age of automation and artificial intelligence will inexplicably cease. I continue in spite of this—in spite of this new dawning abandonment of authentic creation, in spite of a capitalistic world hostile to originality, and in spite of a society that serves the persecution of its own people. For the experiences, struggles, and joys of queer, trans, and POC people must be expressed, and they can never be captured by the cold, nonexistent hands of a machine.

Via the traditional mediums of oil painting, pastels, charcoal, graphite, and multiple forms of printmaking, my work thus stems largely from my queer and trans identity, taking inspiration from cherished gay media and lived LGBTQ+ experiences of other individuals in the community. I create pieces with the intention of honoring the catalogue of queer art that has come before me, along with imbuing my own spirit to create something new: a fresh, campy, jovial, and yet critical lens to perceive our world.

This is what drives my pieces, specifically those with the image of Smokey Bear—a classic American icon. I enjoy using my invented, queer version of him as a conduit to express my political and societal beliefs: those pertaining to the government, climate change, fascism, and queer culture—just to name a few.

While I do have serious and critical content in my body of work, I also make room for pieces that are simply campy and joyful, offering the weary viewer refuge in a painterly scape or witty queer-coded characters. My aim always remains the same: to comfort my fellow persecuted brethren and to expose the cracks in the facade of our depreciating society.
